The 69 Weeks
I read a post from a dear FB friend that made this claim,”That the president was the Antichrist. This is not the first time I heard this about a President. Reagan was the antichrist, Obama was the antichrist, Bush was the antichrist and now this one. Well I will be getting into this further down the road. However this opened up a hole can of worms that need to be sorted out.
I have in the past, stayed away from end time bible prophecy, for this very reason, I have seen too many use it in believers as the whole basis of their relationship with Jesus, basing it more on his second advent, than His first advent.
I have read or heard all the prophecy turn of events, relating to the end of days and familiar with the more popular narratives out there on the subject. I was very familiar with the “Left Behind Series”, my take on the series was to leave it behind at the time they came out. I didn’t want to dive into it per say, and waist my time because I didn’t fully understand reconcile where they were coming from and what I was reading. And this wasn’t the time for me.
When I considered all the teachings out there on the subject, the popular narrative didn’t sit well with me. There was a per say, a check in my spirit on the subject I was hearing about and what I was reading.
Now here I am, and I didn’t know what I was getting into. I have gone over several alternative teachings. I tell you! I was liberated with this one. Nothing is what it seems or have been told to me, and it’s not entirely what we have been traditionally taught the last 200 years.
Once we get clarity on what really happening, the rest of the Prophetic revelations in the Bible will start falling into place.
I’m going to get started with the most popular and the most miss understood passage on the subject. And this got me going on the subject; This is Daniel 9:24 – 27.
This passage deals with a timeline that by the most part is confused because important pieces of the puzzle was missing or miss understood. This is was a riddle to be solved, and can be taken by two ways of understanding, two forks in the road and knowing which one to take. Such as the to and fro study we previously gone over. This was also my awakening.
First I would like to point out that this chapter is one of the most selfless and heartfelt petitions for his people other than when Christ prayed to his Father, not my will, but yours be done. We need to consider Daniels and Christ’s example of humility on prayer and fasting.
Finishing Up to a New Beginning
Beginning with Daniel 9:24:
In the context, the Lord has given Daniel a vision of what is expected of his people and what is to come.
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.
Time for a passage break down:
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people the Jews and upon thy holy city Jerusalem, to:
1. Finish the Transgressions – Finnish; literally to restrain punishments for the transgressions. To hold back punishment for sin. Was the starting point for the 69 weeks of the 70.
Christ also did this on the cross.
2. Make an end of sins – literally seal up the past sin of rebellion. This was everything from the completion of the second temple and prior. Keep in mind that there was no sacrifices being made prior completion of the temple. Now that’s a new start.
Christ also did this on the Cross.
3. Make reconciliation for iniquity – by cutting a covenant to ratify the promises declared by the prophets.
Christ also did this on the Cross.
4. Bring everlasting righteousness
Who is our everlasting Righteousness?
5. Seal up the vision and prophecy – to Seal up the vision and the Prophet is correct singular of the translation and not plural.
Putting a stop to vision and the prophet. The final revelation of the word of God for a season of time under the current covenant. More at a later time.
6. Anoint the most holy
Now, what or Who is the Most Holy? The Ark behind the Curtin or the Son of Man on the Cross?
This was God’s honey do list for Judaea.
We read 6 events that needs to take place by the completion of the 70 Weeks. These events will be fulfilled one way or another in the timeline allotted. It’s God’s way or else. What they didn’t get done, God will. I will go over the break down of these 70 weeks shortly.
What is important to understand is that, when this timeline of 70 weeks is actually to start. I wasn’t the moment of Daniels vision, but at a appointed time by the decrees sent forth to the people of Judah’s return to Jerusalem.
1st decree approx 538/7bc Cyrus the Persian to begin the journey and the initial reconstruction of the Temple and preparation for the repatriation of the land. Ezra 1:1-4
2nd decree by Darius the Mede, approx 518bc was to clarify to all people the previous decree to rebuild the temple and get the ball rolling. Ezra 6:1-12
3rd decree Artaxerxes I 457bc was to rebuild city and the walls but was interrupted. Ezra 7:11-28
The 4th decree 445/4bc Artaxerxes I was re-establishing the 3 decree with Nehemiah giving orders go to Jerusalem and head up the continued task of restoration of the walls. Nehemiah chapter one, there is no actual date, it can be assumed that Nehemiah marching orders to rebuild Jerusalem came about the twentieth year of Artaxerxes I. Nehemiah 2:1-8 & Daniel 9:25.
The Return Home
Even though the first decree was Cyrus recognition of Judah and their importance to return to Jerusalem which started the temple reconstruction, it wasn’t until the final 4th decree of Artaxerxes I that started on the walls, streets and the city of Jerusalem and the remainder of the the Jews to return. There was around a 100 years from the first decree to the 4th decree.
So when does the timeline start? Not until the final decree given to Nehemiah to start on the walls and the city of Jerusalem. This final decree was the only one that wasn’t referenced in the holy scriptures but found in scholar references. All other dates were were found in scripture references listed above.
Keeping in mind that when Nehemiah started the reconstruction of the wall, this wasn’t without resistance. The surrounding residences or foreigner occupants didn’t want this to go forward. Interesting that this pattern also correlates to the resistance of modern Israel and Jerusalem. They were what you may call squatting on the land of promise and didn’t want to vacate when the original tenants were to arrive, Original Owner Occupy. So this wasn’t an easy time for the rebuilders having to have a speckle in one hand and a sword in another. There has been at least one Nehemiah brawl with the occupants. This restoration project was not without troublous events.
From start to finish there was several of what was termed, aliyah “going up” to Jerusalem with the decrees. The first group was about 50 thousand and the last was Nehemiah group, or the remainder of the people that choose to. Not everyone returned. Some choose to stay.
These “going up”s correlated with the decrees given by the rulers.
Now Let’s read Daniel 9:25:
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Breaking down the 70 weeks
1 . Know therefore and understand
2. That from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks – rebuilding Jerusalem for the coming of the Messiah, the Prince of Peace.
3. threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times – Jerusalem will be rebuilt, but not without difficulty.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
4. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself – Messiah will be taken away not for his own sake but for the sake of others.
5. The people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; – a different prince or commander, more than likely a commander of Satan set to destroy and defile the city and the temple. One of the horns of the Beasts in Revelation maybe? There possibly be a course of a thousand years between princes. We will find what events in time that these timelines will point to.
Keeping in mind that there were several events with the beasts of Daniel in Chapter 7, between new rulerships was a course of hundreds of years. Carrying this thought over to the two princes mentioned, could be hundreds of years as well, not seven weeks.
6. The end thereof shall be with a flood – flood of people or foreigners and different languages, in other words; Gentiles or nations, will come from the outside of the borders of Jerusalem.
7. Unto the end of the war desolations are determined – to make Jerusalem desolate by destruction, to cripple in making sacrifices unacceptable on the temple mound.
After having these passages broken down, gives us a little better picture of what is to take place during this timeline with a little commentary.
The weeks given in this passage is summed to 70 weeks per Daniel 9:24 and is broken up into three parts in vs25 & 26. There is a 7 week period to rebuild and a additional 62 week period till messiah comes. The threescore and two weeks comes out to the 62 weeks. In Daniel 9:7 lists the final week. The chart below will give a picture these weeks are broken into.
The 70 week Timeline
Before we can get to what the 7’s and the week’s represent we need to know how the days are broken into and established. This is God’s timeline were talking about.
A Hebrew Prophetic Calendar Year:
Genesis 7:11, 24 & Genesis 8:4;
V11. In the — six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
V24. And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.
Genesis 8:4. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
The first historical record in the Genesis record, the Flood began on the seventeenth day of the second month (7:11), and came to an end on the seventeenth day of the seventh month (8:4). Now, this is a period of exactly five months, and fortunately the length of the same period is given in terms of days-“an hundred and fifty days” (7:24; 8:3). Thus the earliest known month used in Biblical history was thirty days in length, and twelve such months would give us a 360-day year.
150 days divided by the 5 month difference equals 30 times 12 months sums to 360 days in a year. These are also considered Prophetic years.
The Prophetic years are used to determine the calculations and we will convert to Solar years by using .9857 times the Prophetic years equals Solar or Gregorian years.
Now understanding God’s day equals a year;
For I have laid upon thee — the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
And when thou hast accomplished — them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear — the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
Now that we have a working understanding how God understands his calendar, we can understand how these passages were written and what they were referring to. There are 360 days in a year and 1 day for a year.
Now getting down the brass tax of this timeline.
The 4rd decree of Artaxerxes I is the is the year that the timelines starts with. It wasn’t the first one by Cyrus for the temple reconstruction. This fourth decree is the only one that allows the Judaeans and the commissioned Nehemiah to return with the remainder and majority of the people to start the building of the Capital city of Jerusalem and the walls. It was about 100 years from the first decree to the 4 decree. The Temple was already built and in use by the time of Nehemiah.
This 4th Decree was given in 444bc and begins Daniels Vision’s timeline. View the above dates Chart.
We find in Daniel 9:24, keeping in mind the 6 events that will take place until the Messiah comes.
Proof’s in the 7s
Now taking the 7 weeks of troublous times and 62 weeks till the Prince Messiah comes we get 69 weeks.
So now we have to multiply the 69 weeks by seven to convert the weeks into days and we get 483 days that is in-turn converted to prophetic years using 360 days in a year cycle.
A little side knowledge, in 701bc there was a solar system event that cause earth and mars to increase in distance that changed our earths and mars rotation around the sun to 365.24 days from 360 days. We us the difference as a conversion factor of .9857.
More information: https://khouse.org/articles/2003/479/#notes
69 weeks by 7 we get 483 days/years and we take this by .9857 we get 476 Solar years.
We take the 476 Solar years and add to the 444bc decree timeline we get 32AD which is to the year of the Cross.
In going through the events in Daniel 9:24 can we find any event that wasn’t fished up to, or at the Cross?
1. Put an end to transgressions – The Cross.
If you read Malachi we will find that the people of Judah was still up to their old practices and bickering, hence forth, the reason for the Prophet Malachi the last prophet in God’s attempt to clean up their act.
2. To make an end to sin – The Cross
3. To atone for iniquity or make reconciliation by covenant. – The Cross – The New Covenant.
4. To bring in perpetual righteousness. Who is our Righteousness? Jesus. – The Cross
5. To seal up the prophetic vision and prophecy– ?
6. And to anoint a Most Holy – Christ ordained and anointed by His Father in the power of Elijah, the Prophet John the Baptist.
So It seems there is a mystery with event 5. This wasn’t taken care of at the cross, nor was event 6, but up to the Cross. Some teach that anointing the most holy is this third and final temple. Not!
Side note: I might add that the original ark of the covenant was lost to Judaea. The real Ark of the Covenant was hidden from the time of the exile to the 1980s. And there it will remain hidden from public eye. They tried to move the ark to a more secure surroundings, however the 6 who were commissioned to enter the area of a cave system where the ark was hidden, had to be taken out in body bags with brain hemorrhages. The person to directed the excavation and entered the chamber where the ark stood was Ron Wyatt. Ron who was a gentle gentile Christian believer that God appointed to make the discovery also had to remove the six dead of Jewish decent. This may be for another time. I personally do not believe in the rebuilding of the 3rd temple. Christ came for that. I don’t see why many look to the reconstruction of a temple on a hill that over looks Jerusalem. After the cross a temple was just a building on piece of prime real estate that had a view of the holy city. We should look within the third temple that Jesus build for his return.
What about sealing up the prophetic vision and prophecy? So no more inspired word will be written or spoken until the time of the end. By the way prophecy is the wrong translation used. This is not a plural use of the word, it is the singular use. So it should read prophet, or the Lord’s word coming by the way of messengers.
There is something missing in the timeline. Many will call this the Close of the Old Testament, wich was fulfilled by the last book of the Old Testament written by Malicai in 396bc. This was the point when vision and the prophet was sealed until the end of Daniel’s Messiah come.
Taking the prophetic years as multiplier, that is 7 times 7 years we get 49 years and taking the solar year conversion into account we get 48.3 solar years, when added to the beginning of the time line of 444bc we get 395.7 rounded to 396. And this part of the timeline is widely excepted as the Close of the Old Testament and referring to this part of the vision. The Old Testament writings were sealed until the time of the Messiah and the Cross, the time of the end, which brought that passage to a close and unsealed the vision. The prophet and vision returned with John the Baptist, coming in the power of Elijah. We now have The New Testament as the fruit of evidence. Jesus’s Revelation to John sealed up the New Testament writing and the cross unsealed Daniels Vision. Jesus’s return will completely unseal the remainder of the book of Revelation. Again the same Lord of the prophetic visions of the Book of Daniel and the book of Revelation, is the same Messiah that came to us. He practiced and lived what he preached, in the old and the new.
We all understand how the Heaven Sevens are found in the Creation, in the Heavens. Sabbaths were used for the day of completion and a day or year of rest.
Make note of the hebrew word seven in the heading at the top. This is important because this form is going to be different then the next form that is going to be used in the instruction of the The 7th Week.
Stay Tuned, another Week to come…….
